Our Vision

Calling all cinephiles! We are launching The Independent, an independent cinema in the heart of Huntsville, Alabama, dedicated to screening indie and foreign films, art house, classics, and cult favorites. We'll also host interactive events like midnight double features, film festivals, and more. This cinema is more than just a place to watch movies--it's a community hub for film lovers, filmmakers, and creatives of all kinds.

Huntsville is growing, and we believe there's a strong community of film lovers who want more than what the multiplex offers. The Independent will be a cultural venue that brings people together through the love of cinema. Whether it's discovering a new indie gem or enjoying a cult classic with friends, our theater will offer experiences that you can't get anywhere else in town. 

 

The Independent team is collaborating with the current community of filmmakers and curators in North Alabama, and partnering with local small businesses and organizations to bring residents and visitors a niche experience unlike any other. In addition to showing great films and providing a platform for local and national independent filmmakers and curators, our lounge will serve beer, wine, all our favorite theater snacks, and gourmet hot dogs in a perfect setting for hanging out before or after a screening with friends.
