The Independent invites you to an unforgettable evening celebrating the vibrant film, music, and flavors of the islands.
Savor authentic Caribbean cuisine from Chef Wali of The Tiny Jerk Spot, and vibe to the island rhythms spun live by DJ Apple BDA of Roots N Culture Sound. As the centerpiece of the night, we’re screening the legendary Jamaican film Rockers—a cult classic that pulses with reggae spirit and rebel energy.
Stick around for the grand finale: a full-band reggae set by Nashville’s own Teddy J RudeRaggamuffin, bringing roots and rhythms straight to Huntsville.
In Rockers (1978), Leroy “Horsemouth” Wallace sets himself up with a gig selling records. When gangsters steal his motorbike, things turn nasty. As tensions build, Horsemouth and friends plot to end the gangsters reign of terror and restore justice to the people of Kingston.
